The Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles does not process same day visas (no expedite fee!). The processing time: at least 10 working days. Please plan accordingly!
Tourist Visas are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa;
All Tourist Visa holders may only stay in Brazil for up to 90 days, regardless of nationality or the length of time that the Visa is given for. The Federal Police in Brazil may extend this 90-day period, yet stays in Brazil may not exceed 180 days per year under any circumstance;
Visas are activated on the date of the first entry in Brazil. Make sure that the Immigration Office stamps your passport at entry.
To apply for a visa, please pay close attention to the information below!
In order to process your application for a tourist you must present the following all at once:
A valid passport showing at least six months' validity from the date of entry in Brazil, containing one full blank page;
Visa application/Protocol Form, filled out, dated, signed and printed out by the applicant (parents must sign for minors under 18 years old) at https://scedv.serpro.gov.br by clicking here.
Attention please: When you access the above site, you may get the message: "untrusted connection". This is because the security certificate was issued by a Brazilian chain and is not recognized by most browsers. Please proceed as follow: * If you are using Firefox browser, click on "I understand the risk" and "Add an Exception"; on the next window, wait a little bit and then click on "Confirm security exception"; you will be redirected to the visa request home page; or * if you are using Windows Internet Explorer, click on "Continue to this website (not recommended)" and you will be redirected to the visa request home page.
YOU MUST RETURN TO THIS PAGE to complete the process and PLACE YOUR APPOINTMENT at the end of these instructions. Note that: * You must complete the entire application online before you are able to print out the form with your individual protocol number; * The visa application/protocol form is valid for only 30 days from its issuance date. After 30 days, a new protocol number must be acquired by completing a new visa application/protocol form.
One recent (2in x 2in) passport-photo, front view, white background pasted at the Visa Appicaltion/Protocl Form. Snapshots or computer pictures are not acceptable;
A copy of a booking slip or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, passenger names, itineraries, flight numbers and arrival/departure dates;
A copy of a proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e. utility bill, driver license);
Non US Citizens must ALSO present: A copy of the US Alien Resident Card for foreign residents and/or a valid visa, or document to return from Brazil to the US or other country;

Processing fee only for: * U.S.A.: US$140.00 (for reciprocity purposes); * U.K.: US$155.00 (for 180 days or longer stays); * U.A.E.: US$ 75.00.
Visa fee (per applicant) vary according to nationality: U.S.A. - are exempted from the visa fee (only pay the processing fee above); Australia - US$ 35.00; Canada - US$ 65.00; Nigeria - US$ 40.00; Mexico - US$ 30.00; Japan and Russia - US$ 50.00; All other countries - US$ 20.00.
An additional absent fee of US$20.00 will be charged for each application not submitted in person by the applicant or by his/her immediate family.
The processing fee or visa fee, plus absent fee, if applicable, must be paid by an US Postal Money Order only (issued up to 90 days earlier), made out to "Consulate General of Brazil", and containing the applicant's name, address and phone number. Married couples or immediate-family groups can paid by ONE US Postal Money Order in the total amount. No cash, personal or company checks are accepted.
LAST STEP before coming to the Consulate - APPOINTMENT: Once you have your protocol number, you must
schedule an appointment for “in person visa submission” at this Consulate. Please, you
MUST place ONE appointment per EACH visa application. * NOTE: Family groups must schedule one appointment per person, including minors. If consecutive appointment times are not available, you still have to make one appointment per person on the same day, but you will submit the entire group application at the time of the earliest appointment. Visa services are available weekdays, except Holidays. Visa applications: from 9am to 12pm with appointment ONLY. Visa pick-up: from 2pm to 3pm ONLY. The original receipt must be presented. Anyone holding a receipt may pick up the passport on the day scheduled or any following weekday. Note: In case the receipt is not presented, a copy of your ID and an additional (48) hours will be required to locate your passport/visa.
