ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR VISAS TO CITIZENS OF COUNTRIES WITH WHICH BRAZIL DOES NOT MAINTAIN DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS 

 

Citizens of countries with which Brazil does not maintain diplomatic relations, applying for any type of visa, will receive a special travel document – “LAISSEZ-PASSER”- issued by the Consulate to each individual, with prior approval of the Brazilian Government.

 

Requirements

 

Please bring with you:

§          The original passport valid for a minimum of six months from the date of intended arrival in Brazil and a copy of all informative and stamped page, including clear copy of the United States Visa, which must be valid to return. In case of a one entry visa, a copy of a visa to enter another country after leaving Brazil;

§          One Visa Application Form and one Additional Visa Information Form, filled out, dated and signed by the applicant (parents must sign for those under 18 years old);

§          2 (two) recent 2”x 2” passport-photos, front view, white background. Snapshots or computer pictures are not accepted;

§          The Consulate may request additional information/documentation as deemed necessary

Additional Consular fees:


US$ 25.00 – for a telegraphic consultation. Otherwise the consultation to the Brazilian Government

                  will be processed through mail

US$ 30.00 – for the issuance of the travel document (Laissez-Passer)

plus US$ 20.00 Tourist Visa fee or US$ 60.00 Business Vida fee.

 

 No cash, personal or company checks are accepted. Payment must be made by money order, cashier’s check or certified check, made out to "Consulate General of Brazil". Please, one money order/cashier's check/certified check for every application! 

 

NOTES

  • Approval of visas for citizens of countries with which Brazil does not maintain diplomatic relations usually takes from 2 to 4 weeks.
    After approval, the processing time is up to 10 (ten) working days. Please plan accordingly! The Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles does not process same day visas (no rush fee!). How to apply and pick-up: In person or by a visa agency only, click here for details


  • The "Laissez-Passer" and the corresponding visa are good for one entry only and must be used within 90 days from the date of issuance.
